Mark Frost promoted as creative director of Gieves & Hawkes

London’s Menswear brand Gieves and Hawkes has promoted Mark Frost, a member of its design team, to the post of creative director, replacing Simon Spurr.

This was confirmed by Trinity Limited, the brand’s parent company. It also made the news about the exit of Spurr public, who left the company barely five months from his joining. The creative director quit his position, without presenting his first catwalk collection for the label.

Founded in 1771, the company has a bespoke men’s tailor and menswear line, and has the credit of being one of the oldest continual tailoring companies in the world.

Speaking on the appointment of Frost, Gieves and Hawkes executive director Ray Clacher said, “I have worked with Mark for over six years and while Jason Basmajian is rightfully getting all the applause for turning Gieves from a classic Savile Row tailor into a global men’s luxury lifestyle brand; Mark was his right-hand man every step of the way.”

He further added, “I hope that time will show that he is to Gieves what Christopher Bailey was to Tom Ford during his time at Gucci. Mark will make his name as a cutting edge menswear design chief, of that I have no doubt and to be home-grown at Gieves makes me and my colleagues very proud.”

Prior to Gieves and Hawkes, Frost has worked at Tom Ford and Hacket. He will exhibit his first collection at London Collections Men in June.
