Brexit Analysis for Fashion Industry

'Brexit', a communion of two word Britain and Exit making it a term which was popular since few months have turned into a reality where Britain has voted to leave the European Union. The historic referendum took place on 23rd June. Loads of analysis began about the consequences of the referendum on various sectors including fashion, retail & footwear.


The move to exit the European Union was one that was unsupported by the fashion community.  The British Fashion Council conducted an independent survey of designers and found that out of 290 designers surveyed, 90 percent said they wanted to stay in the EU and 4.3 percent voted to leave.

The exit may have a devastating effect on the fashion retail industry. Brexit could have a chilling effect on the mergers and acquisitions market. 'Brexit' puts the brakes on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which was in negotiations between the European Union and the U.S.Although, nothing is certain for the moment yet move could mean negative effect Brexit will have on consumer confidence and spending in retail
